The 17th century convent of Santa Monica is Asia’s first and largest Convent, built between the years 1606-1627. The Convent of Santa Monica served as a cloistered convent till the late 19th century. The Convent is popular due to its special architectural which include the flying buttresses which were added to provide support to the massive walls of the building, the Miraculous Weeping Cross and the Museum of Christian Art (MoCA).
